The NORTON 78072727696 is a coarse-grit abrasive belt engineered for aggressive stock removal on metal, weld seams, and hard materials. Built on the R821P series platform, this belt measures 6 inches wide by 48 inches long and runs at 50 grit — a coarse grade well suited to grinding, deburring, and surface conditioning where fast cut rate matters. The zirconia alumina abrasive delivers a sharp, self-fracturing grain that resists glazing under load, extending usable belt life in heavy-duty applications. A closed-coat, polyester cloth backing gives the belt dimensional stability and flexibility across a range of contact wheel hardnesses.
This belt is designed for stationary or portable belt grinders used in metal fabrication shops, weld prep operations, and industrial maintenance environments. At 6 x 48 inches, it fits a wide range of standard commercial belt grinders in that frame size. Typical applications include weld blending, scale removal, flash removal on castings, and rough shaping of ferrous and non-ferrous stock. It is intended for dry use only and is not rated for wet or coolant-flooded grinding operations. Metal fabricators and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and end users of this product.
Designed as a standard-size replacement or production belt for belt grinders and sanders accepting a 6 x 48 inch abrasive belt.
Belt grinder installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive product safety. Confirm the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before replacing the belt. Inspect the contact wheel and idler for wear or damage prior to mounting a new belt, and verify belt tracking before returning the machine to full operating speed. Always wear appropriate PPE — including eye protection and gloves — when handling and operating abrasive belts.
