The NORTON 78072727517 is a coated abrasive belt engineered for aggressive material removal and consistent cut performance in industrial and shop grinding applications. Built on a heavy X-weight cloth backing, it carries a closed-coat layer of zirconia alumina abrasive at 80 grit, placing it in the medium grade range. Zirconia alumina is a self-sharpening, high-durability abrasive grain that stays aggressive longer than standard aluminum oxide on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and weld seams. The belt measures 4 inches wide by 54 inches long and is designed for dry operation only. It is part of the R821P series. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians are the primary installers and users of this belt.
This belt is suited for stationary or portable belt grinders and sanders commonly found in metal fabrication shops, welding operations, and maintenance facilities. The 4 x 54 inch format fits a range of bench-mounted belt grinders and wide-platen machines. Medium 80-grit cut rate makes it appropriate for weld blending, surface conditioning, deburring, and stock removal on steel, stainless, and other hard metals. It is rated for dry use only and should not be used with coolants or cutting fluids.
Designed to fit belt grinders and abrasive belt machines that accept a 4-inch by 54-inch belt format. Verify machine contact wheel, platen dimensions, and drive pulley center distance before installation.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive belt grinder operation. Disengage and lock out power to the machine before changing belts. Confirm the arrow or direction marking on the belt interior matches the machine drive direction before tensioning. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and tracking system for wear or damage prior to fitting a new belt, and do not exceed the machine manufacturer rated surface speed for the belt width and length in use.
