The NORTON 78072726903 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive material removal on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Built on a polyester cloth backing, this belt runs in the R821P series and features zirconia alumina grain in a closed-coat configuration at 60 grit. Zirconia alumina is a self-sharpening, tough abrasive mineral that holds up under high-pressure grinding and stock removal tasks. The closed-coat density maximizes grain coverage for consistent cut rate. Measuring 1 inch wide by 42 inches long, it fits standard 1 x 42 belt grinders and sanders commonly used in metal fabrication, tool and die, and maintenance shops.
This belt is suited for dry grinding and blending operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as hardwood and engineered materials. The 60-grit coarse grade makes it the right choice for initial stock removal, weld blending, and surface conditioning before finishing passes. It is commonly used by metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and production grinders working with bench-top or floor-standing belt sander units that accept 1 x 42 inch belts.
Designed to fit belt grinders and belt sanders that accept 1 inch wide by 42 inch long abrasive belts. Verify machine specifications before installation.
Belt installation should be performed with the machine powered off and unplugged or locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm belt tracking direction — most abrasive belts are directional; follow the arrow marked on the belt's inner surface. Tension the belt per the machine manufacturer's specification before starting. Inspect the platen, contact wheel, and idler for wear before mounting a new belt.
