The NORTON 78072718723 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive stock removal and surface finishing on metal, composites, and hard materials. Built on a heavy-duty X-weight polyester cloth backing, this belt runs in the Series R983 lineup and uses a closed-coat ceramic abrasive grain at 60 grit for medium-grade cutting action. The ceramic grain self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining cut rate longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. At 1 inch wide and 30 inches long, it fits standard narrow-belt file sanders and bench-top belt grinders used by metalworkers, maintenance techs, and fabrication shops. Wet or dry operation is supported.
This belt is suited for portable file belt sanders and stationary grinders in fabrication, maintenance, and manufacturing environments. The 1-inch by 30-inch format is a common size for detail grinding, weld blending, deburring, and pipe or tube finishing. The ceramic grain and closed-coat construction make it a strong choice for stainless steel, high-alloy metals, and other hard-to-grind workpiece materials where heat buildup and grain loading are concerns. Sold individually.
Designed for use on narrow belt file sanders and bench-top belt grinders that accept a 1-inch by 30-inch abrasive belt.
Installation is performed by machine operators or maintenance technicians following the tool manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Always power down and disconnect the grinder or file sander before replacing the belt. Confirm belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and verify the tool's maximum operating speed does not exceed the belt's rated speed. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection during belt changes and grinding operations.
