The NORTON 780727-27694 is a heavy-duty zirconia aluminum oxide abrasive sanding belt designed for aggressive stock removal on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Running on model R821, this belt measures 6 inches x 48 inches and carries an 80-grit coarse abrasive rating suited to rapid material shaping and surface conditioning. The closed-coat construction packs abrasive grain tightly across the full belt surface, maximizing cut rate and surface contact. A Y-weight cloth backing provides the rigidity and tensile strength needed to handle high-pressure, high-speed belt grinder and stroke sander applications. The blue zirconia aluminum oxide grain self-sharpens as it fractures, extending belt life under load.
This belt is well suited to metal fabrication shops, welding operations, woodworking facilities, and industrial maintenance environments. Typical applications include weld seam blending, scale removal, deburring, and dimension sanding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as hardwoods. The 6 x 48 inch size fits a wide range of stationary and portable belt grinders and stroke sanders. The 80-grit coarse rating makes this belt a first-pass or heavy-removal choice before stepping to finer grits for finish work. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 20 belts.
Designed for use on belt grinders, stroke sanders, and similar abrasive machines accepting a 6 inches x 48 inches abrasive belt. Corresponds to NORTON model R821 closed-coat cloth-backed belt series.
Belt sanding equipment must be powered down and unplugged before changing belts. Confirm the arrow or tracking direction marked on the belt inner surface matches the machine drive direction before operation. Inspect the platen, contact wheel, and idler for wear or debris that could damage the new belt. Eye protection and appropriate respiratory protection should be worn during abrasive sanding operations.
