The NORTON 780727-21605 is an aluminum oxide benchstand sanding belt built for aggressive stock removal on stationary belt grinders and benchstand sanders. Measuring 2.5 inches wide by 60 inches long, this belt is sized for standard benchstand machines common in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and trade workshops. The 40-X grit designation places it in the coarse range, making it well-suited for fast material removal, weld grinding, edge shaping, and surface prep work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as hardwoods. Aluminum oxide is a durable, self-sharpening abrasive grain that holds up under extended use and heat without loading quickly.
This belt is intended for use on stationary benchstand or pedestal belt sanders in shop environments. Typical applications include deburring metal parts, shaping and fitting stock, cleaning weld seams, and rough shaping of wood or composite materials. The coarse 40-X grit is a common first-stage abrasive where significant material must be removed before finishing passes with finer grits. These belts are sold individually and are appropriate for professional shop use in metal fabrication, HVAC shop work, plumbing and pipefitting prep, and general maintenance trades.
Designed as a standard-size replacement belt for benchstand and pedestal belt sanders that accept a 2.5-inch by 60-inch abrasive belt.
Belt installation should be performed with the machine powered off and unplugged. Verify belt tracking adjustment before resuming operation, and confirm the belt arrow direction matches machine rotation where indicated. Eye protection and appropriate work gloves are recommended during belt changes. Inspect the platen and idler wheel for wear before mounting a new belt.
