The NORTON 77696090180 is a Type 27 coated flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal and weld surfaces. Built with zirconia alumina abrasive at 36 grit coarse grade, it delivers fast stock removal and long disc life on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and structural steel. The fiberglass backing provides rigidity and supports the flap construction through the full rated speed of 30,000 RPM. Quick-Change Type S attachment allows tool-free disc swaps on compatible right-angle grinders. Metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance techs reach for this disc when grinding welds, removing mill scale, or prepping surfaces for coating.
This flap disc is suited for use on right-angle die grinders accepting Quick-Change Type S accessories. The 3-inch diameter makes it appropriate for work in tighter areas and on smaller grinders where a standard 4.5-inch disc would be oversized. Typical applications include weld grinding, deburring, beveling, and surface conditioning on fabrication benches, in structural steel work, and on maintenance and repair operations. The coarse 36 grit is best matched to heavy stock removal rather than finish work.
Designed for use with right-angle die grinders and grinder tools fitted with a Quick-Change Type S spindle interface accepting 3-inch coated flap discs.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source or air supply. Verify the tool spindle speed rating meets or exceeds the 30,000 RPM rating of this disc before mounting. Always inspect the disc for damage before use and discard any disc showing cracks, tears, or delamination. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive grinding equipment per ANSI B11 and applicable shop safety standards.
