The NORTON 77696090152 is a ceramic alumina coated flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Part of the R980P series, this disc features a flat profile and a Quick-Change Type R attachment, allowing fast tool-free disc changes on compatible angle grinders and die grinders. At 3 inches in diameter with a 60-grit medium cut, it delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The plastic backing plate supports the abrasive flaps and maintains disc geometry throughout the life of the disc. Metalworkers and fabricators rely on this style of disc for blending welds, deburring edges, and surface prep work.
This flap disc is suited for use on steels, stainless steel, and titanium, making it a practical choice across fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and industrial production environments. The Quick-Change Type R attachment is compatible with Type R quick-change mandrels commonly used on right-angle and straight die grinders. The flat disc geometry allows for surface blending and finishing in tight areas where a depressed-center disc would be harder to control. Its 30,000 RPM maximum rating supports use on high-speed pneumatic and electric grinders typically found in metal trade applications.
Designed for use with Quick-Change Type R mandrel systems on right-angle and die grinders. Suitable for material applications including steels, stainless steel, and titanium.
Installation is performed by metalworkers and fabricators using compatible Quick-Change Type R mandrels. Confirm the grinder is powered off and depressurized before mounting or removing the disc. Do not exceed the 30,000 RPM maximum rating marked on the disc. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and follow applicable ANSI B7 safety standards for abrasive wheel mounting and operation.
