The NORTON 69957370213 is a 7-inch ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and hard-to-grind alloys. Part of the F970 BlazeX Series, it uses a resinoid bond to hold ceramic alumina abrasive grain onto a fiber backing, delivering a very coarse 36-grit cut that bites fast and runs cool. The disc mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole and requires the Norton Speed-Change Back-Up Pad for proper operation. Rated to 8,600 RPM, it is suited for demanding grinding and blending tasks where stock removal rate is the priority. Licensed grinding and fabrication professionals are the primary installers.
This disc is used in industrial and commercial fabrication, structural steel work, weld removal, and surface conditioning applications. The very coarse 36-grit rating makes it appropriate where rapid stock removal is needed before transitioning to finer finishing steps. The orange fiber backing and ceramic alumina grain are optimized for ferrous and non-ferrous hard metals. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 25.
Designed for use with the Norton Speed-Change Back-Up Pad. Requires a 5/8-11 threaded arbor back-up pad. Verify grinder RPM does not exceed the 8,600 RPM disc rating before mounting.
Installation is performed by fabricators, metal workers, or maintenance trades using a standard angle grinder. Always power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before mounting or removing the disc. Confirm the back-up pad and grinder spindle are rated to at least 8,600 RPM and that the 5/8-11 thread engagement is fully seated before operation. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel use.
