The NORTON 69957370200 is a ceramic alumina coated fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, welds, and fabricated surfaces. Part of the F970 series, this disc features a resinoid bond and fiber backing that together support high stock removal rates while maintaining disc integrity under heavy load. Rated to 10,000 RPM, the disc suits angle grinders fitted with a backup pad. At 80 grit and a medium grade, it sits in the range used most often for weld blending, surface conditioning, and deburring operations in metal fabrication and maintenance work.
This fiber disc is suited for use on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals in both shop and field environments. The 5-inch diameter and 7/8-inch arbor hole fit standard angle grinder backup pads commonly used in fabrication shops, pipefitting, structural steel work, and general metalworking. The ceramic alumina abrasive delivers consistent cut rate and extended disc life compared to conventional aluminum oxide discs, making it a practical choice for high-volume grinding tasks.
Designed for use with 5-inch angle grinder backup pads accepting a 7/8-inch arbor hole attachment. Minimum order quantity is 25 units; package quantity is 1 disc per pack.
Fiber discs must be mounted on a matched backup pad rated for the same or higher RPM. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and do not use damaged discs. Ensure the grinder guard is in place and rated for disc grinding operations before starting. Follow applicable ANSI B7.1 and OSHA 1910.215 guidelines for abrasive wheel safety.
