The NORTON 69957344869 is a coated abrasive belt designed for heavy-duty grinding and finishing operations on wide-belt sanding machines. Built on a polyester cloth backing with an X-weight rating, this belt handles the tension and heat demands of industrial surface preparation. The abrasive material is zirconia alumina, a self-sharpening grain that maintains cut rate over extended use. At 180 grit with a closed coat density, the belt delivers fine-grade finishing passes suitable for ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and wood composites. It is part of the R823P series and supports both wet and dry operation, giving shops flexibility in coolant or dust-control setups.
This belt is sized at 36 inches wide by 75 inches long, making it appropriate for wide-belt grinders and large-format drum sanders used in metalworking fabrication shops, cabinet and millwork facilities, and industrial production environments. The fine 180-grit rating positions it in final surface prep and pre-finishing stages where scratch pattern control matters. Licensed machinists, fabricators, and woodworking professionals are the primary installers and operators. The wet or dry rating expands its use to grinding cells that run water-based or oil-based coolants, as well as dry-finish wood sanding lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit abrasive belt for industrial wide-belt sanders and drum grinders accepting a 36 x 75 inch belt size.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician following the equipment manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Power down and lock out the machine before removing the worn belt and fitting the replacement. Confirm proper belt tracking direction — most coated abrasive belts have a recommended run direction marked on the backing. Inspect the platen, contact drum, and idler rollers for wear or contamination before loading a new belt to avoid premature failure.
