The NORTON 69957308016 is a tungsten carbide rotary bur designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built to the SD-3 industry specification, this ball-shaped double cut bur features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter and a 5/16 inch length of cut. The double cut pattern produces a cross-hatch tooth geometry that removes material quickly while leaving a smoother finish than single cut. The 1/4 inch shank is a standard size compatible with most die grinders and rotary tools. At 25,000 RPM maximum speed, it handles heavy stock removal and deburring tasks efficiently. Machinists, pipefitters, and metalworkers are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This bur is rated for use on a broad range of metals including 300 Series and 400 Series stainless steel, cast iron, copper, hard and soft carbon steel, titanium, and tool steel. It is well suited for deburring weld seams, porting and shaping, enlarging holes, and removing casting flash in both shop and field environments. The 2-1/8 inch overall length gives adequate reach in tight spaces without excessive overhang. This bur suits production shops, maintenance facilities, and pipe fabrication operations where consistent material removal on hard metals is required.
Designed for use on 300 Series stainless, 400 Series stainless, cast iron, copper, hard carbon steel, soft carbon steel, titanium, and tool steel. Fits any die grinder or rotary tool equipped with a 1/4 inch collet.
Install the shank fully into a properly sized 1/4 inch collet and tighten securely before operation. Always verify the tool speed rating of the receiving die grinder does not exceed 25,000 RPM. Wear appropriate eye protection and gloves when operating rotary burs. Inspect the bur for chips or cracks before each use and do not operate a damaged bur.
