The NORTON 69936662106 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision material removal on ferrous metals in industrial and toolroom environments. Built to specification 48A46-KVBE, it uses an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded in a vitrified matrix, producing a coarse 46-grit cut at a medium K hardness rating. At 8 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, the wheel mounts directly to standard surface grinder spindles. Rated to 3600 RPM, it is suited for controlled-depth passes on flat workpiece surfaces. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and grinding technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is rated for use on hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels, making it a practical choice for general toolroom surface grinding and production grinding applications. It is compatible with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. The non-porous, non-tapered, non-recessed Type 1 flat profile fits standard horizontal-spindle surface grinder setups commonly found in job shops and manufacturing facilities.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, and tool steels. Fits spindles accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use and perform a ring test per standard procedure. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating stamped on the wheel.
