The NORTON 69083159105 is a Type 1 ceramic surface grinding wheel designed for precision material removal on hard ferrous metals and high-performance alloys. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and features a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel runs on a vitrified bond with a 60-grit, medium-grade abrasive and is rated for a maximum of 3600 RPM. The ceramic grain construction delivers consistent, cool cutting action suited for demanding surface, cylindrical, and CNC cutting tool grinding applications. At 2.7 pounds, it fits standard surface grinder spindles without added counterbalancing complexity.
This wheel is built for industrial grinding on 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is appropriate for use on surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines in both production shop and job-shop environments. The 60-grit medium grade balances stock removal rate with surface finish quality, making it a practical choice for operators working across a range of ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Suitable for grinding 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron workpieces.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using a ring test before installation, and never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating. Flanges must be clean, flat, and properly sized to provide adequate bearing surface without distorting the wheel.
