The NORTON 69083159104 is a Type 1 ceramic surface grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on hard ferrous metals and specialty alloys. Measuring 7 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, it uses a 46-grit coarse abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond for consistent stock removal and long wheel life. The ceramic abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining cut rate across extended grinding sessions. Rated at a maximum of 3600 RPM, this wheel is suited for surface grinders and CNC cutting tool machines operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This wheel is built for surface grinding applications on demanding materials including 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron. It is compatible with surface grinders and cylindrical grinders as well as CNC cutting tool machines. The coarse 46-grit cut rate makes it a strong fit for initial stock removal and surface preparation operations where a fine finish is not the primary goal. The green non-porous wheel carries a J hardness code and medium wheel hardness rating, balancing wheel wear against grinding efficiency on harder workpiece materials.
Designed for use with surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and CNC cutting tool machines. Material applications include 400 series stainless steel, hard carbon steels, tool steels, titanium, super alloys, cast iron, ductile iron, and gray iron.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die technician. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test per ANSI B11.9 guidelines. Never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed rating stamped on the wheel or specified by the machine manufacturer.
