The NORTON 69014192780 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision surface grinding and finishing operations. Built with Armored Synthetic Diamond (ASD) abrasive and a resinoid bond, this wheel delivers consistent material removal on hard and brittle workpiece materials. At 320 grit, it produces an extra fine finish suited to final-stage grinding passes. The resinoid bond provides a degree of flexibility that helps maintain surface integrity on sensitive workpieces. Rated for both wet and dry operation, it fits standard surface grinding machine spindles and is used by tool-and-die makers, machinists, and grinding specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This wheel is intended for finishing applications where tight surface tolerances and fine finishes are required. The Type 1A1 straight-wheel form seats directly on surface grinder spindle flanges without adapters in most setups. With a 1/4 inch superabrasive depth and 75 concentration of ASD abrasive, the wheel maintains cutting ability through extended use before requiring dressing or conditioning. It is appropriate for both production grinding of carbide tooling and finish work on ceramics, glass, and other hard materials that respond well to diamond abrasive.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for surface grinders accepting a Type 1A1 straight wheel with a 1-1/4 inch bore. Part of the Norton ASD series; specification designation ASD320-R75B99-1/4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding machine operator following the machine manufacturer's wheel-mounting procedures. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel or machine.
