The NORTON 69014192771 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel built for precision finishing on hard and brittle materials. The wheel measures 6 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. It uses Armored Synthetic Diamond (ASD) abrasive grain bonded in a resinoid matrix at a 75 concentration level, producing a Very Fine 220 grit cut. The soft R-hardness rating and resinoid bond allow the wheel to release worn abrasive efficiently, maintaining a consistent cut during wet or dry surface grinding operations. Machinists, tool and die makers, and grinding specialists use this wheel for controlled stock removal and fine surface finishing.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding applications where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. The Type 1A1 straight-wheel form is compatible with standard surface grinder spindle configurations. It is designed for finishing operations on materials such as carbide, ceramics, glass, and hardened steel. The wheel supports both wet and dry operation, though wet grinding is generally preferred for heat-sensitive workpieces and extended wheel life. Surface grinding wheels must be installed and dressed by qualified machinists or grinding technicians in accordance with ANSI B11.22 and the grinder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test as required. Ensure the machine is powered off and locked out before changing the wheel. Always use the correct flanges and torque the arbor nut to the grinder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten.
