The NORTON 69014192070 is a Type 1A1R diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision surface grinding applications. It measures 5 inches in diameter with a 0.015 inch thickness and a 1/2 inch hole, making it a thin-rim cutoff and grinding wheel suited for hard, brittle materials. The abrasive is Armored Synthetic Diamond (ASD) at 100 concentration, bonded in a metal bond matrix with a fine grade and medium hardness (N). At 220 grit, this wheel delivers a fine finish pass on ceramics, carbide, glass, and similar workpiece materials. It is handled and installed by machinists, tool-and-cutter grind technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals.
This wheel is used in surface grinding operations where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required on hard or brittle workpiece materials. Typical applications include grinding tungsten carbide, ceramics, glass, and hardened ferrous or non-ferrous materials. The metal bond construction and 1/8 inch superabrasive depth make it well-suited for production surface grinding on rotary and reciprocating surface grinders. The 100 concentration rating delivers consistent stock removal with controlled wear across the abrasive rim.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard-production diamond grinding wheel for surface grinders accepting a 5 inch diameter, 1/2 inch arbor hole, Type 1A1R wheel form.
Installation and dressing of diamond grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel, and inspect the wheel for visible damage or cracks before use. Follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for wheel mounting, flanges, and guard clearances. Do not exceed the wheel's rated maximum operating speed.
