The NORTON 69014191842 is a Type 11V9 cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel designed for precision tool grinding operations. Built on a resinoid bond matrix, it carries a 120-grit fine-grade CBN abrasive layer with a superabrasive depth of 1/16 inch and a face width of 7/16 inch. The wheel measures 5 inches in diameter with an overall thickness of 1-3/4 inches and a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. CBN abrasive is suited for grinding ferrous materials, hardened steels, and high-speed steel tooling where thermal control and wheel life matter. This wheel supports both wet and dry operation and is sold individually.
This wheel is used in tool and cutter grinding applications across industrial maintenance shops, manufacturing facilities, and precision grinding operations. The Type 11V9 flaring cup profile with a 70-degree face angle makes it well matched to relief and clearance grinding on drill bits, end mills, reamers, and similar cutting tools. It is typically mounted on bench or pedestal tool grinders and surface grinder setups configured for CBN work. The fine 120-grit rating delivers a controlled finish pass rather than heavy stock removal.
Designed as a CBN superabrasive replacement wheel for tool and cutter grinders accepting a 5-inch diameter, 1-1/4 inch arbor, Type 11V9 cup wheel configuration.
CBN grinding wheels must be mounted by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safe mounting practices, including ring testing before installation. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Verify that the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel. Do not force the wheel onto the spindle — the arbor hole should fit without hammering or excessive pressure.
