The NORTON 69014191721 is a Type 11V9 cubic boron nitride (CBN) superabrasive grinding wheel designed for precision tool grinding applications. The wheel measures 3.75 inches in diameter with an overall thickness of 1.5 inches and a 1.25-inch bore. It carries a 150-grit, Very Fine CBN abrasive layer bonded with a resinoid bond system to a 0.0625-inch superabrasive depth. CBN abrasive is the appropriate choice for grinding hardened ferrous tool steels, HSS, and similar high-hardness materials where conventional aluminum oxide wheels wear too quickly. This wheel is handled by toolroom machinists, tool and cutter grind technicians, and precision grinding specialists.
This wheel is suited for bench or pedestal tool and cutter grinders as well as CNC grinding machines that accept a Type 11V9 cup wheel configuration. The 70-degree face angle and 0.375-inch face width make it appropriate for relief grinding, flute grinding, and form grinding of cutting tools including end mills, drills, reamers, and taps. It supports both wet and dry operation, though wet grinding is recommended for heat-sensitive workpieces and to extend wheel life.
