The NORTON 69014191711 is a Type 11V9 cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel designed for precision grinding of ferrous materials including hardened steels and tool steels. Built with a resinoid bond and a CBN superabrasive layer, the wheel operates at 100 grit (Fine grade) and supports both wet and dry operation. At 5 inches in diameter with a 1-3/4 inch overall thickness and a 1-1/4 inch hole size, it is sized for bench grinders and tool-and-cutter grinding machines used in production and toolroom environments. Superabrasive concentration is rated at 75, and the abrasive depth is 1/16 inch, providing consistent stock removal over a long service life.
This wheel is suited for toolroom and production grinding applications where tight tolerances are required on hardened steel components such as drills, end mills, reamers, and similar cutting tools. The 70-degree face angle and 7/16 inch face width make it appropriate for flute grinding and similar contouring operations. It is typically installed and dressed by machinists, tool grinders, or skilled grinding technicians in industrial and manufacturing shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for bench-style tool-and-cutter grinders and surface grinders accepting a 5 inch diameter, 1-1/4 inch hole Type 11V9 wheel.
CBN grinding wheels should be mounted and dressed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician familiar with superabrasive wheel handling. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for visible cracks or damage before installation and conduct a ring test per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Use the correct flange and arbor configuration for the machine spindle to ensure concentricity and safe operation.
