The NORTON 69014191704 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel engineered for precision finish grinding on hard materials. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel uses synthetic diamond (SD) abrasive bonded in a resinoid matrix at a 100 concentration level, rated at 180 grit with a Very Fine grade and a Soft hardness code (R). Specification designation is SD180-R100B99-1/4. This wheel is designed for wet operation and is intended to improve surface finish on workpieces rather than aggressive stock removal. Machinists and tool-and-cutter grinders working with carbide, ceramics, or hardened tooling are the primary users.
This wheel is suited for surface grinding applications where a refined final finish is the goal. Its Very Fine, 180-grit diamond construction makes it appropriate for finish passes on carbide tooling, ceramic components, and other hard or brittle materials that conventional abrasives struggle to process cleanly. Installation and wheel changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding specialist following ANSI B11.23 safety standards for grinding machines. Always power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting, and never exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel. Wet operation requires adequate coolant flow throughout the grind cycle — running this wheel dry can damage the bond and the workpiece surface.
