The NORTON 69014191701 is a Type 1A1 flat surface grinding wheel engineered for precision grinding applications. It uses Armored Synthetic Diamond (ASD) abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond system, delivering consistent stock removal and surface finishing on hard, brittle, or carbide materials. The wheel measures 7 inches in diameter, 0.25 inches thick, with a 1.25-inch arbor hole. At 150 grit, it falls into the very fine grade range, making it well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes where controlled material removal is needed. Wet operation is recommended for optimal performance and wheel life.
This wheel is used in surface grinding operations across tool rooms, carbide tooling shops, and precision machining environments. The ASD series designation and resinoid bond make it appropriate for grinding cemented carbides, ceramics, and other superhard workpiece materials. It is typically mounted on surface grinders or tool and cutter grinders where a flat wheel profile is required. The no-recess, no-taper geometry simplifies mounting and dressing procedures for grinding technicians and machinists.
Designed as a replacement or standard-use Type 1A1 surface grinding wheel for surface grinders and tool and cutter grinders accepting a 7-inch diameter wheel with a 1.25-inch arbor hole.
Installation and dressing of diamond grinding wheels should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following the machine manufacturer's guidelines and applicable ANSI B11 safety standards. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for visible damage before each use and never exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel or packaging. Wet grinding requires a properly functioning coolant system to be in place before operation begins.
