The NORTON 69014191698 is a Type 1A1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision wet grinding applications in metalworking and tool room environments. It features an Armored Synthetic Diamond (ASD) abrasive bonded in a resinoid matrix, delivering consistent stock removal and fine surface finish in a single setup. At 6 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, and with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, this wheel mounts to standard surface grinders. The 150-grit, Very Fine grade makes it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes on hard, brittle, or difficult-to-grind materials. Licensed tradespeople and tool room machinists are the primary installers and operators.
This wheel is designed for wet surface grinding operations where coolant is applied to manage heat and extend wheel life. It is appropriate for use on carbide tooling, ceramics, glass, and similarly hard materials that benefit from diamond abrasive. The 1/4-inch superabrasive depth and soft (R) hardness rating allow the wheel to release dulled diamond crystals efficiently, maintaining a free-cutting action throughout the wheel life. It is sized for benchtop and floor-standing surface grinders common in production shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance departments.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement or new-fit surface grinding wheel for machines accepting a 6-inch diameter, 1/2-inch wide, 1-1/4-inch arbor hole Type 1A1 wheel.
Installation and operation of grinding wheels must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always ring-test the wheel before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel's rated maximum RPM. Secure the arbor flange to the manufacturer's specified torque and use the appropriate blotters. Never operate this wheel dry — coolant flow must be established before the wheel contacts the workpiece.
