The NORTON 66623399159 is a Type 27 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal and fabricated surfaces. Running at a maximum of 8,600 RPM, this disc delivers very coarse 36-grit cutting action suited for weld grinding, deburring, and surface prep on steel and stainless. The cloth-backed flap construction flexes against the workpiece, providing consistent contact and extended abrasive life compared to rigid grinding wheels. At 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard angle grinders. Licensed metalworkers and fabricators rely on this disc for high-stock-removal passes where finish quality is secondary to speed.
This flap disc is used in industrial fabrication, structural steel work, metal fabrication shops, and maintenance grinding applications. The Type 27 flat profile is the standard choice for flat surface grinding and blending. The trimmable backing allows the disc to be dressed as flaps wear, extending usable life on the job. Typical users include welders, ironworkers, and pipefitters performing weld cleanup, rust removal, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Designed for use on angle grinders with a 7/8-inch arbor accepting 7-inch Type 27 flap discs operating at or below 8,600 RPM.
Mounting and disc changes should be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 8,600 RPM maximum disc rating before use. Always install the proper guard before operating and inspect the disc for damage prior to each use. Personal protective equipment including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection is required during grinding operations.
