The NORTON 66623341086 is a Type 27 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and ferrous metals. Part of the R860 Series, it carries a 36-grit coarse abrasive rating and spins safely up to 13,300 RPM. The disc measures 4.5 inches in diameter and mounts via a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole, making it compatible with standard right-angle grinders. A plastic backing plate keeps the disc flat and rigid during flat and surface grinding operations. Fabricators, welders, and metal workers use this disc for weld seam blending, scale removal, and surface prep on structural steel.
This flap disc is suited for flat grinding and surface finishing applications on steels in fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, and field welding environments. The trimmable design allows the operator to extend usable abrasive life by trimming back worn flaps, reducing downtime on the job. The blue-colored disc is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it a practical stocking item for shops with steady grinding demand.
Designed for use on steels. Mounts to right-angle grinders with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Suitable as a replacement flap disc wherever a 4.5-inch Type 27 coated abrasive disc is specified.
Licensed tradespeople and fabricators should ensure the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM rating marked on the disc before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before installing or removing the disc. Inspect the disc for cracks, tears, or damage before each use and discard any disc showing visible defects. Always use the appropriate guard for Type 27 discs as required by ANSI B11 and applicable workplace safety standards.
