The NORTON 666233-66015 is a ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Built on a vulcanized fiber backing, ceramic alumina grain delivers consistent cut rates and longer service life compared to conventional aluminum oxide abrasives. This disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole and is rated at 80 grit, placing it in the medium-coarse range for applications that require rapid stock removal with controlled surface finish. Sold in a pack of 25 discs, this SKU is suited for production grinding and fabrication workflows where throughput and grain consistency matter.
These fiber discs are used in metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface conditioning on steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals. The 80-grit designation makes them appropriate for weld seam removal, edge grinding, and deburring tasks in both shop and field environments. They mount to standard angle grinders equipped with a fiber disc backing pad and center nut, making them a practical choice for sheet metal shops, structural fabricators, and maintenance crews working on industrial equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement compatible with standard 5-inch fiber disc backing pads used on angle grinders accepting a 7/8-inch arbor center.
Fiber discs must be mounted on a matched fiber disc backing pad rated for the disc diameter. Ensure the angle grinder is unplugged or the battery removed before installing or removing the disc. Inspect the backing pad for wear or deformation before each use, as a damaged pad can cause uneven pressure and premature disc failure. Follow applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel mounting and operation.
