The NORTON 666233-57284 is a Merit series resin fiber disc designed for heavy stock removal on demanding grinding and blending applications. Constructed with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded to a durable fiber backing, this disc delivers aggressive cutting action suited for weld grinding, surface prep, and material removal on ferrous metals and other hard substrates. At 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard right-angle grinders. The 36-grit designation makes it one of the coarsest options in the Merit line, appropriate when maximum material removal is the priority over surface finish.
This disc is intended for use in fabrication shops, industrial maintenance, and construction environments where rapid stock removal is required. Typical applications include weld seam grinding, rust and scale removal, edge deburring, and aggressive surface conditioning on structural steel and similar materials. It is commonly used by metal fabricators, ironworkers, and general maintenance trades working with angle grinders in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a standard 7-inch resin fiber disc for use with right-angle grinders and disc grinders that accept a 7-inch diameter disc with a 7/8-inch arbor hole.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive disc safety and angle grinder operation. Always ensure the grinder is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Verify that the grinder's rated RPM equals or exceeds the maximum RPM rating of the disc before use, and confirm the backing pad and retaining nut are in good condition and properly torqued per the grinder manufacturer's specifications. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when using grinding discs.
