The NORTON 666233-55600 is a ceramic alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive stock removal and surface conditioning on metal substrates. Measuring 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this disc runs on standard angle grinders and disc sanders common to fabrication and welding shops. The 60-grit ceramic alumina abrasive cuts fast, runs cool, and resists loading, making it well suited for weld blending, deburring, and edge work on steel, stainless steel, and hard alloys. Sold in a package of 25 discs, this SKU is appropriate for shop stocking and production grinding applications.
These fiber discs are used in metal fabrication, structural steel work, pipeline, and heavy equipment maintenance. The 60-grit cut level is a workhorse grade positioned between aggressive shaping and finish preparation. Typical applications include weld seam blending, surface rust removal, and scale reduction on plate and structural members. The resin-fiber backing provides the flexibility needed to conform to slight surface irregularities while maintaining disc integrity under load.
Designed for use with standard 5-inch angle grinders and disc sanders fitted with a 7/8-inch arbor or appropriate disc pad. Compatible with backing pads rated for 5-inch fiber discs.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder or sander disconnected from power. Inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before mounting a new disc. Ensure the disc is fully seated and secured before operation, and always use the appropriate guard per OSHA and tool manufacturer requirements. Worn or damaged discs should be replaced immediately and never used beyond their rated speed.
