The NORTON 666233-55599 is a ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and hard-to-grind alloys. Measuring 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this disc mounts directly to standard right-angle grinders used by fabricators, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians. The 50-grit ceramic alumina abrasive delivers fast stock removal and maintains cut rate longer than conventional aluminum oxide discs, making it well suited for high-production grinding applications where downtime between disc changes costs money. Sold in a package of 25 discs.
These fiber discs are used in metal fabrication shops, structural steel work, weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 50-grit cut is coarse enough for rapid material removal and weld flush-down while still leaving a surface ready for finishing passes. The ceramic alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, extending disc life in demanding production environments. Typical applications include pipeline work, shipbuilding, heavy equipment repair, and general industrial fabrication.
Designed for use with standard 5-inch right-angle grinders accepting a 7/8-inch arbor. Verify grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum rated speed marked on the disc before mounting.
Fiber discs must be mounted with a compatible backing pad rated for the disc diameter. Ensure the grinder is disconnected from power before changing discs. Inspect each disc for cracks, tears, or moisture damage before use and discard any damaged disc immediately. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable workplace safety standards when operating angle grinders with abrasive discs.
