The NORTON 666233-55596 is a 7-inch ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. Sold in a pack of 25, these discs feature a 7/8-inch arbor hole for compatibility with standard angle grinders and disc grinders used in fabrication, welding prep, and finishing work. The ceramic alumina grain is self-sharpening, meaning it fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining cut rate longer than conventional aluminum oxide abrasives. At 60 grit, this disc is suited for blending welds, removing scale, and shaping metal stock.
These fiber discs are a practical choice for metal fabrication shops, pipe fitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians who need consistent stock removal in production or field environments. The 7-inch diameter provides a larger contact area than standard 4.5-inch or 5-inch discs, making it well suited for flat or slightly contoured workpieces where coverage and speed matter. Each disc in the 25-pack is individually usable as a replacement in ongoing jobs or stocked as shop supply.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders and disc grinders fitted with a 7/8-inch arbor or a compatible backing pad accepting 7-inch fiber discs.
Installation of fiber discs should be performed by qualified personnel following grinder manufacturer guidelines and applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always inspect the disc for damage before mounting and confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc rating. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Use an appropriate backing pad rated for the disc diameter and never exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the disc or grinder.
