The NORTON 666233-55594 is a ceramic alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Built on the Merit FX965 platform, this disc uses ceramic alumina grain to deliver fast, consistent stock removal with extended disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide abrasives. The 7-inch diameter and 7/8-inch arbor hole fit standard right-angle grinders used in fabrication, weld blending, and surface conditioning work. At 36 grit, this disc targets heavy grinding, scale removal, and rough stock removal tasks where speed and aggression are the priority.
This fiber disc is suited to structural steel fabrication, metal fabrication shops, pipeline work, and heavy equipment repair where operators need a reliable, high-cut abrasive for rapid weld removal and surface prep. The ceramic alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining cut rate across the life of the disc. Discs are sold in a pack of 25, making this a practical quantity for production environments where disc consumption is high.
Designed for use with standard right-angle grinders accepting a 7-inch fiber disc with a 7/8-inch arbor hole. A backup pad rated for 7-inch fiber discs is required for proper use.
A rigid backup pad matched to the 7-inch disc diameter must be used to support the fiber disc during grinding. Verify the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum RPM before mounting. Ensure the grinder is fully powered down and the disc is securely seated on the backup pad before beginning work. Always wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and gloves when operating grinding discs.
