The NORTON 66261138662 is a 3-inch coated abrasive quick-change disc designed for aggressive stock removal, weld blending, and deburring on metal and wood surfaces. It uses zirconia alumina abrasive grain rated at 50 grit (coarse grade), which is self-sharpening under pressure for consistent cut rate across the life of the disc. The disc mounts via a Speed-Lok TS (Type II, Type S) quick-change system and runs up to 20,000 RPM on a handheld disc sander. Y-weight polyester backing provides rigid support and waterproof durability for demanding shop and field applications. This disc is installed and used by metalworkers, fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
This disc is suited for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard and soft carbon steels, and hard and soft woods. The semi-open coat construction and coarse grit make it well-matched to heavy-duty material removal tasks including weld seam blending, surface prep before welding or coating, and edge deburring. It is used with handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S or Speed-Lok TS quick-change backup pad. The R860 series designation identifies this as part of a zirconia alumina performance line engineered for industrial fabrication environments.
Compatible with handheld disc sanders fitted with a Type S or Speed-Lok TS (Type II) quick-change backup pad. Suitable for material applications including 300 Series Stainless, 400 Series Stainless, Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Hard Carbon Steels, Soft Carbon Steels, Hard Woods, and Soft Woods.
Installation is performed by pressing the disc onto a compatible Type S quick-change backup pad until the locking mechanism seats. Verify backup pad compatibility and maximum RPM rating before mounting. Do not exceed the 20,000 RPM rated speed. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace immediately if tears, cuts, or delamination are observed.
