The NORTON 66261138608 is a 1-inch zirconia alumina quick-change abrasive disc designed for rapid stock removal, weld blending, and deburring on a wide range of metals and wood substrates. It mounts via the Speed-Lok TS (Type II, Type S) attachment system and is rated to 40,000 RPM, making it a high-speed option for handheld disc sanders in production and maintenance environments. The disc features a semi-open coat on a Y-weight polyester backing for durability and resistance to loading. At 60 grit, it falls in the medium-to-coarse range and is well suited for aggressive material removal. Licensed tradespeople and experienced fabricators working in metal shops, job sites, and maintenance facilities are the primary users.
This disc is engineered for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard and soft carbon steels, and hard and soft woods. It is part of the Norton R860 series and is designed for handheld disc sanders with a Speed-Lok TS quick-change spindle. The rigid, non-trimmable backing keeps the disc flat and consistent during aggressive grinding passes. The self-sharpening zirconia alumina grain maintains cut rate over the life of the disc, reducing the frequency of disc changes in high-volume grinding applications.
Designed for handheld disc sanders equipped with a Speed-Lok TS (Type II, Type S) quick-change attachment system. Compatible material applications include 300 series stainless, 400 series stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, hard carbon steels, soft carbon steels, hard woods, and soft woods.
Installation requires a handheld disc sander fitted with a Speed-Lok TS compatible mandrel. Ensure the tool is powered down and disconnected from its power source before mounting or removing the disc. Verify the tool's no-load RPM rating does not exceed 40,000 RPM before use. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye and face protection when operating grinding and abrasive equipment.
