The NORTON 66261138317 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) abrasive disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Built on a Y-weight cloth backing, this disc delivers the flexibility and durability needed for contour grinding and heavy stock removal. The zirconia alumina abrasive grain runs at 80 grit, a medium-grade cut that balances fast cutting action with reasonable surface finish. At 10 inches in diameter, it fits standard PSA-style random orbital and disc sanders used in fabrication shops, metal service centers, and woodworking facilities. Licensed tradespeople and skilled production floor operators are the primary installers and users.
This disc is suited for flat and moderate contour sanding applications where consistent, aggressive cutting is required. The Y-weight cloth backing resists tearing under high pressure and lateral load, making it appropriate for both hand-operated and machine-driven disc sanders. The blue zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens during use, extending disc life compared to aluminum oxide alternatives. It is part of the NORTON R821 series and is sold individually. No vacuum holes are included, so it is intended for use on solid-platen or non-vacuum PSA sanding systems.
Designed as a replacement or consumable disc for 10-inch PSA disc sanders and stationary sanding machines that accept pressure-sensitive adhesive-backed abrasive discs with no vacuum holes.
Power down and lock out the sanding machine before removing a spent disc or installing a new one. Peel the liner from the PSA backing and apply the disc firmly to a clean, dry platen to ensure full adhesive contact and prevent slippage during operation. Inspect the platen surface for debris or adhesive residue before mounting. Follow the equipment manufacturer's recommended maximum RPM rating for the disc size to avoid disc failure during use.
