The NORTON 662611-38583 is a zirconia alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Built on the NorZon F826 abrasive platform, this disc uses zirconia alumina grain, which self-sharpens under pressure to maintain a consistent cut rate and extend disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide products. At 36 grit, it is designed for heavy stock removal, weld grinding, and surface conditioning tasks where fast cutting action is the priority. Fabricators, welders, and metalworkers rely on this disc for demanding applications on steel and stainless steel.
This fiber disc is suited for use on right-angle grinders in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and metal service centers. The 9-1/8 inch diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole fits standard backing pads for large right-angle and disc grinders. It is commonly deployed on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous alloys where aggressive grinding or blending is required. The 36-grit designation makes it appropriate for initial weld seam removal, surface prep before welding, or rapid deburring of heavy stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fiber disc for use on right-angle grinders and disc grinders equipped with a 9-1/8 inch backing pad and 7/8 inch arbor.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with angle grinder safety practices. Ensure the grinder is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Verify that the backing pad diameter and arbor size match the disc specifications before use. Always confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum speed rating, and use appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves during operation.
