The NORTON 662611-38563 is a zirconia alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. Built on the NorZon F826 platform, this disc uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain that self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining a consistent cut rate throughout its service life. The 5-inch diameter and 7/8-inch arbor hole fit standard right-angle grinders used across fabrication, welding, and metal finishing trades. At 24 grit, this disc is suited for heavy stock removal, weld blending, and surface prep work where fast cutting action is the priority.
This fiber disc is used in metal fabrication shops, structural steel work, and field welding applications. The 24-grit classification makes it appropriate for initial surface conditioning, aggressive deburring, and removing mill scale or heavy weld spatter before finishing passes. It is a common choice for ironworkers, pipefitters, and metalworkers who run angle grinders in production or repair environments. The 7/8-inch arbor fits the majority of standard backing pads used with 5-inch right-angle grinders.
Designed for use with standard 5-inch right-angle grinder backing pads accepting a 7/8-inch arbor hole. Verify backing pad RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum rated speed before use.
Fiber discs of this type are installed and serviced by metalworkers, fabricators, and grinding equipment operators. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or changing a disc. Inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before each disc installation, and confirm the disc is fully seated and the arbor nut is secure before operation. Follow applicable ANSI B7 grinding safety standards and wear appropriate PPE including a face shield and grinding gloves.
