The NORTON 662611-38452 is a zirconia alumina fiber disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal and fabricated surfaces. Built on the NorZon F826 abrasive platform, this disc delivers consistent cut rate and extended service life compared to standard aluminum oxide discs. At 80 grit, it is suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and stock removal on steel, stainless steel, and other hard metals. The 4-1/2 inch diameter paired with a 7/8 inch arbor hole fits standard right-angle grinders used daily in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field service applications.
This fiber disc is sold in a package of 25, making it a practical stock item for shops and service crews running high-volume grinding or blending operations. The 80 grit designation targets medium-aggressive material removal, bridging the gap between coarse shaping and finer finishing passes. It is appropriate for use in structural steel fabrication, pipe welding prep, and general metal surface work where a consistent scratch pattern and reliable disc life are required.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders and disc grinders accepting a 4-1/2 inch fiber disc and a 7/8 inch arbor, paired with an appropriate rubber or phenolic backing pad.
Fiber discs must be mounted on a compatible backing pad rated for the grinder speed before use. Always confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc RPM rating before operation. Inspect each disc for cracks or damage before mounting, and never operate a damaged disc. Operators should use appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when grinding.
