The NORTON 66261096435 is a Type 27 ceramic alumina flap disc engineered for demanding metal grinding and surface conditioning work. Measuring 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole, this disc mounts directly to standard angle grinders. The 60-grit ceramic alumina abrasive delivers aggressive stock removal while the high-density flap construction extends disc life under heavy use. A fiberglass backing plate provides rigidity and support, and the polyester cloth backing on each flap resists loading and heat buildup. Rated to 13,000 RPM, it suits both sustained production runs and intermittent fabrication tasks. Part of the R980P series.
This flap disc is suited for blending, edge deburring, and stock removal on steel, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel. The Type 27 flat profile is the correct choice for surface grinding and blending passes where the disc works at a low angle to the workpiece. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians will recognize this profile as the standard for flat-surface work. It is a coarse-grade disc and is best applied where material removal rate matters over final surface finish.
Designed for use with standard 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Suitable for stock removal, blending, and deburring on steel, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel workpieces.
Installation and disc changes must be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder fully powered off and unplugged. Confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Thread the arbor hole fully onto the spindle and verify the disc is seated flat before operation. Always follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable OSHA standards for abrasive wheel use, including proper guard installation and personal protective equipment.
