The NORTON 66261038911 is a coated abrasive belt designed for demanding stock removal and finishing tasks on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Running on belt sanders and grinders, it uses a zirconia alumina abrasive grain bonded to an X-weight polyester cloth backing. The X-weight backing delivers superior rigidity and tear resistance under heavy pressure. At 100 grit, this belt falls in the medium grade range, making it a practical choice for blending welds, removing mill scale, and cleaning up rough surfaces before finer finishing passes. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators install and use these belts in production and maintenance grinding applications.
This belt measures 3/4 inches wide by 20-1/2 inches in overall length, fitting belt sanders and inline grinders that accept that specific belt size. The closed-coat construction keeps abrasive grain densely packed across the surface, maximizing cut rate on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Wet and dry operation is supported, giving the user flexibility in coolant-assisted grinding setups or dry hand-tool grinding. The R823P series designation identifies this belt within the NORTON line of industrial coated abrasives.
Designed for use in belt sanders and power file grinders accepting a 3/4 inch by 20-1/2 inch abrasive belt. Confirm machine belt size specification before ordering.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the grinder or sander manufacturer guidelines. Always disconnect power and confirm the machine is fully de-energized before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation, and ensure the belt is seated squarely on the drive and idler wheels. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and operating abrasive belts.
