The NORTON 662610-04435 is a 5-inch coarse-grit surface finishing disc designed for hook-and-loop attachment systems. These discs deliver aggressive material removal and surface prep on wood, metal, and composite substrates. Sold in a pack of 25, they are well suited for high-volume shop use, production sanding, and field surface preparation. The brown coloring is characteristic of the coarse-grade designation, making it straightforward to identify grit level at a glance on a busy job site or in a shop environment. HVAC fabricators, finish carpenters, metal workers, and general contractors commonly reach for these discs during surface prep before coating or joining.
These discs are intended for use with 5-inch hook-and-loop backing pad sanders, both pneumatic and electric. Typical applications include leveling welds, removing mill scale, scuffing surfaces ahead of primer, and blending transitions on sheet metal or wood panels. The coarse grit rating makes them best suited for stock removal rather than final finishing passes. They are not intended for fine finishing or polish stages.
Designed for use with 5-inch hook-and-loop random orbital and disc sanders. Compatible with standard backing pads of the same diameter that use hook-and-loop fastening systems.
These discs are installed by pressing the loop side firmly onto a clean hook-type backing pad until fully seated. Before mounting or changing discs, power down and disconnect the sander from its air or electrical supply. Inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before each disc change, as a deteriorated pad reduces disc adhesion and can cause the disc to separate during use. Worn discs should be replaced before the abrasive layer is fully depleted to avoid backing pad damage.
