The NORTON 66260392449 is a diamond electroplated mounted point designed for precision grinding and finishing on hard, brittle materials such as carbide, ceramic, glass, and hardened steel. Part of the Series 1000 electroplated line, this mounted point uses a single layer of diamond abrasive bonded directly to the steel shank, delivering consistent cut rate and profile retention throughout the life of the wheel. At a 200/230 grit rating, it falls in the fine grade range, making it well suited for light stock removal, edge refining, and surface finishing passes where tight tolerances matter. Licensed trade grinders and toolroom machinists are the primary users.
This mounted point is used in die grinders, flexible-shaft machines, and rotary tools for internal grinding, contour work, and detail finishing in both shop and field settings. The cylinder point shape (Shape Code 1040FD) allows flat-face contact for end grinding as well as peripheral contact along the side of the head. Typical applications include grinding carbide tooling, sharpening ceramics, and precision finishing of bores and slots. It is suited for both production toolrooms and maintenance grinding setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard mounted point for die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/8-inch shank collet.
Installation is performed by toolroom machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard collet chuck compatible with 1/8-inch shanks. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the tool is isolated from power before changing mounted points. Inspect the shank for straightness before mounting — a bent shank causes runout and premature abrasive wear. Observe the maximum RPM rating of the machine and do not exceed it; electroplated points can shed abrasive at excessive speeds.
