The NORTON 66260307960 is a 5-inch PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) abrasive disc designed for precision surface finishing on hard materials. Built around a diamond abrasive matrix, this disc delivers consistent material removal at 400 grit, which falls in the extra fine range for refined surface prep and finishing passes. The yellow cloth backing provides flexibility, allowing the disc to conform to slightly contoured surfaces without losing contact. It is well suited for metalworking, composites, stone, glass, and ceramics where conventional aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives wear quickly. Machinists, tool grinders, fabricators, and finishing technicians are the primary users of this type of disc.
This disc is used in applications where a hard, long-lasting abrasive is required to work through tough substrate materials efficiently at a fine finish stage. The PSA backing mounts directly to foam or hard backup pads with matching adhesive surfaces, making disc changes fast in production environments. At 400 grit extra fine, it is typically used as a final or near-final finishing step, following coarser grits to remove scratch patterns and bring surfaces to a refined finish. It is part of the NORTON D71S series.
Designed for use with 5-inch PSA-style backup pads on angle grinders, random orbit sanders, and bench-mounted finishing equipment that accept pressure-sensitive adhesive discs.
Ensure the backup pad surface is clean and free of adhesive residue before mounting a new disc to achieve full contact and prevent premature release. Align the disc flat against the pad and press firmly from center to edge to seat the adhesive. Power down and disconnect or unplug the tool before changing discs. Follow applicable shop safety standards including eye protection and dust control when working with diamond abrasives on hard materials.
