The NORTON 66260273598 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision finish grinding on hard and brittle materials. It measures 6 inches in diameter and 1/16 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The wheel uses synthetic diamond (SD) abrasive at 180 grit with a resinoid bond and a hardness code of R, placing it in the soft wheel hardness range. With a superabrasive concentration of 100 and a 1/4 inch superabrasive depth, this wheel is built for wet operation and material finish improvement. Machinists, tool and die workers, and precision grinding technicians are the primary installers.
This wheel is suited for wet surface grinding applications where a very fine finish is the goal. The 180 grit rating and diamond abrasive make it well-matched for grinding carbide, ceramics, glass, and other hard or abrasion-resistant materials. The flat, straight Type 1A1 profile fits conventional surface grinder spindles with a 1-1/4 inch bore. It is used in both production and toolroom environments where dimensional accuracy and surface finish consistency are critical.
Designed for use on surface grinders with a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore. Suitable for grinding carbide, ceramics, glass, and similar hard materials where a very fine finish is required. Specification SD180-R100B99-1/4 applies.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and never exceed the rated maximum operating speed marked on the wheel. Ensure adequate coolant flow is established before beginning wet grinding operations.
