The NORTON 66260273590 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision surface grinding applications. It features a synthetic diamond abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond system, producing a wheel rated at 150 grit in the very fine grade range. At 4 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 1/2 inch arbor hole, this wheel is sized for benchtop and surface grinders used in tool and die shops, carbide tooling maintenance, and precision metalworking operations. The soft hardness rating (R) and 100 concentration synthetic diamond abrasive make it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes on hard, brittle materials. Wet operation is required.
This wheel is intended for wet surface grinding of hard materials including carbide, ceramics, and similar superabrasive-appropriate substrates. The Type 1A1 straight wheel profile fits standard surface grinder spindle setups. The 1/4 inch superabrasive depth provides extended service life across roughing and finishing operations. It is typically installed and operated by tool grinders, machinists, and precision grinding technicians in industrial and maintenance shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit wheel for surface grinders accepting a Type 1A1 straight wheel with a 4 inch diameter, 1/4 inch thickness, and 1/2 inch arbor hole. Part of the Norton Diamond series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheel mounting. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before installation and perform a ring test where applicable. Ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel, and confirm wet coolant flow is established before beginning any grinding operation.
