The NORTON 66260273561 is a Type 1A1 diamond surface grinding wheel designed for precision surface grinding applications in metalworking and toolroom environments. The wheel measures 6 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a 1/4 inch superabrasive depth. It features a 150 grit synthetic diamond abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond system, producing a very fine grade finish suitable for roughing and finishing operations. The soft wheel hardness rating (hardness code R) and 100 concentration level make this wheel well suited for controlled material removal on hard, abrasive workpiece materials. Installation and operation are performed by machinists and grinding specialists.
This wheel is part of the Norton Diamond series and is intended for use on surface grinders where a flat, 1A1 straight-wheel profile is required. It supports both wet and dry operation, giving it flexibility across different machine setups and coolant configurations. The 150 grit very fine grade is appropriate for applications requiring a refined surface finish following rough stock removal, as well as light finishing passes on hardened steels, carbides, and similar materials. The resinoid bond provides consistent performance and good wheel life across a range of surface grinding conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct application wheel for surface grinders accepting a 6 inch diameter, 1/2 inch thick, Type 1A1 straight wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole.
This wheel should be installed by a qualified machinist or grinding specialist familiar with abrasive wheel safety. Always power down and lock out the surface grinder before mounting or removing any grinding wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before installation and perform a ring test per ANSI B7.1 guidelines. Ensure the arbor hole fits the machine spindle correctly and that all flanges and blotters are used as specified by the machine manufacturer.
