The NORTON 66254482336 is a quick-change abrasive disc from the Bear-Tex Rapid Prep series, designed for surface preparation, blending, and finishing work on metal and composite materials. Built on a flexible polyester and nylon web backing with a Type S (SocAtt) attachment system, this 1-1/2 inch diameter disc runs at up to 30,000 RPM. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain is bonded using Clean Bond resin technology for smear-free results, while the high-loft nylon fiber construction extends disc life under repeated use. At 150 grit (Very Fine grade), it delivers controlled material removal without aggressive stock loss, making it well suited for final-stage prep and surface conditioning.
This disc is intended for use on die grinders and handheld disc sanders in professional metalworking, fabrication, and finishing environments. Rated for 300 and 400 series stainless steel, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, ductile iron, gray iron, hard and soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, tool steels, and fiberglass and composite materials, it covers a wide range of trade applications. The non-woven construction and flexible backing conform to irregular surfaces, making it useful for weld blending, pre-inspection prep, and oxide removal in tight spaces.
Compatible with die grinders and handheld disc sanders equipped with a Type S quick-change attachment system. Rated for use on 300 and 400 series stainless steel, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, ductile iron, gray iron, hard and soft carbon steels, super alloys, titanium, tool steels, and fiberglass and composite materials.
Installation is performed by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians using die grinders or handheld disc sanders with a Type S quick-change hub. Confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage or delamination before each use and discard any disc showing signs of wear or separation. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive product safety standards, and wear appropriate eye and face protection during operation.
