The NORTON 66254461193 is a Type 29 flap disc engineered for aggressive material removal and blending on metal surfaces. Built with zirconia alumina abrasive cloth flaps bonded to a fiberglass backing plate, this disc delivers consistent cut rate and long service life under heavy load. At 80 grit (medium grade), it handles weld blending, surface conditioning, and deburring on steel and other ferrous metals. The conical Type 29 geometry presents the abrasive at a working angle, concentrating pressure at the contact zone for faster stock removal compared to flat Type 27 discs. Rated at 8,600 RPM maximum, it is sized for 7-inch angle grinders with a standard 5/8-11 threaded arbor.
This flap disc is suited for fabrication shops, structural steel work, and maintenance applications where a consistent medium-grit finish is required after welding or cutting operations. Licensed metalworkers and fabricators use this disc on angle grinders for tasks ranging from scale removal and weld seam blending to edge chamfering. The 7-inch diameter covers a larger surface area per pass compared to smaller disc sizes, making it efficient on flat plates, frames, and structural members. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement flap disc for 7-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle.
Flap disc mounting and use should follow ANSI B7.1 and grinder manufacturer guidelines. Always verify the grinder free-speed does not exceed the disc maximum RPM rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and never use a disc that shows cracked, torn, or missing flaps. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves during operation.
