The NORTON 66254461190 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on angle grinders. The conical Type 29 profile presents the abrasive at an angle, concentrating grinding pressure and increasing cut rate on flat and contoured surfaces. At 40 grit, this disc falls in the coarse grade range, making it well suited for weld blending, heavy stock removal, and surface prep on steel and stainless. The cloth backing provides flexibility and durability under load, and the disc is rated to a maximum of 8,600 RPM. It mounts via a 5/8-11 arbor attachment, the standard thread for 7-inch angle grinders.
This flap disc is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipefitting, and general metalworking wherever a coarse, fast-cutting abrasive is needed. The 7-inch diameter is common on mid-size angle grinders used by welders, ironworkers, and pipefitters for post-weld cleanup, edge chamfering, and surface conditioning. The Type 29 geometry makes it particularly effective on flat stock and slightly contoured workpieces where a flat Type 27 disc would lose contact area.
Designed for use on 7-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Suitable for grinding ferrous metals including mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Installation and disc changes should be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 8,600 RPM disc rating before use. Inspect the disc for damage before mounting and never use a disc that is cracked, torn, or shows signs of delamination. ANSI B7.1 safety standards apply to the mounting and use of abrasive wheels.
