The NORTON 66254461177 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and blending on metal surfaces. The disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch center arbor hole and runs at a maximum of 12,000 RPM. The 60-grit medium-grade abrasive is bonded to a cloth backing, which provides flexibility and consistent scratch patterns during grinding and finishing passes. This disc is used with standard angle grinders and is a common consumable for fabricators, welders, and metalworkers performing weld cleanup, surface preparation, and edge blending tasks.
This flap disc is suited for flat and contoured surface work on carbon steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous metals. The Type 29 conical configuration positions the abrasive flaps at an angle to the workpiece, which improves contact on flat stock and delivers a higher material removal rate compared to a flat Type 27 profile. It is a standard consumable in metal fabrication shops, welding operations, and structural steel work where repeated grinding and blending cycles are required.
Designed for use with 5-inch angle grinders accepting a 7/8 inch arbor attachment. Verify that the grinder's no-load RPM does not exceed the 12,000 RPM disc rating before use.
Installation is performed by qualified trades personnel or experienced fabricators familiar with angle grinder safety. Disconnect power or remove the battery from the grinder before mounting or removing the disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate above the rated maximum RPM. Always use the appropriate guard per ANSI B7.1 and wear proper PPE including a face shield during operation.
